The aim of this study was to criticize the prevailing monetary policy in Indonesia through the BI Rate in the framework of the dual banking system. The research approach used was qualitative research. The results showed that the dual banking system that was used by Bank Indonesia in transmitting monetary policy through the BI Rate had not been seen clearly because monetary instrument Bank of Indonesia Certificates (SBI) which was applicable in conventional banking and Bank of Indonesia Certificates Sharia (SBIS) prevailing in Islamic banking both still referred to the BI Rate. Theoretically SBIS was not supposed to refer to the BI rate, but there was no specific reference that could be used by Islamic banking from BI to be transmitted through Islamic banking.
